Kaleida's developments on the City's East side are transforming the neighborhood - the area between Midtown and the historic Fruit Belt. Buildings that have been landmarks for ages are demolished - Hamlin House and 50 High Street - and recently an entire City block was purchased, parcel by parcel, as legal pressure from Albany forced health care providers across the state to adapt to the medical needs of a shifting and aging demographic.

Over the past few years I've added numerous posts and pics that reflect some of these developments. I've organized them here and will keep track of developments involving Kaleida's transformative role in the neighborhood.

There is a quality even meaner than outright ugliness or disorder, and this meaner quality is the dishonest mask
of pretended order, achieved by ignoring or suppressing the real order that is struggling to exist and to be served.
