a view from recently demolished 669 Genesee Street

Introduction

This blog started out as an effort to call attention to and "save" the City owned Woodlawn Row Houses from the process urban dwellers recognize as "demolition by neglect." It has slowly morphed into something that I didn't expect. It has become a way of meeting people. Here, time and space seem to be compressed. I've met some amazing people here in Buffalo and elsewhere who are interested in the potential that we see in our City. In December of 2006 I took what ended up as a much needed break from blogging. Many of my readers were rather kind with what they said about that decision - right here.

If you are visiting for the first time, please check out the following.
Consider subscribing to my regular postings. It's easy using Feedburner over on the right hand side. My photos are hosted on Flickr. Take a look - click here.

If you are interested in a tour of the neighborhood, please consider showing up any Saturday at 11am - Sonic Cafe across the street from Artspace in the 1200 block of Main Street. Walking tours are about an hour. You'll see some amazing architecture and a number of City owned houses that are ripe for urban homesteading. Details here...

There is a quality even meaner than outright ugliness or disorder, and this meaner quality is the dishonest mask
of pretended order, achieved by ignoring or suppressing the real order that is struggling to exist and to be served.
