a view from recently demolished 669 Genesee Street

Around the Corner from 669

While walking around 669 this evening - the old "Gas Works" neighborhood, I saw this home on Adams just around the corner. Spoke with the gentleman who lives here and the woman across the street. They were amazed to learn the the City had owned 669 all this time.

They both seemed to be able to read my mind as we chatted about contruction, "Vinyl victorians" and the hollowing out of the neighborhood where they have both lived for over 40 years. Here's a full shot of his home, cool. He had just finished painting. Was told this evening that it looks like it's in Sweden.

There is a quality even meaner than outright ugliness or disorder, and this meaner quality is the dishonest mask
of pretended order, achieved by ignoring or suppressing the real order that is struggling to exist and to be served.
