While checking out various spots on the City's near East side on Saturday afternoon, urbaneyes spotted this demolition in progress on Goodrich Street inside the Kaleida campus [google map].

Ex-nursing school to be demolished
Business First of Buffalo - 11:16 AM EDT Tuesday

Kaleida Health officials held a ceremonial demolition of the Hamlin House to make room for parking and shovel-ready land for future development.

Hamlin House is the former nursing school for the Buffalo General Hospital.

The 100,00 square-foot building is located at 112 Goodrich St., across from the hospital.

With the demolition, Kaleida will have removed 1.25 million square feet of real estate from its portfolio.

Founded in 1877, the Hamlin School of Nursing trained nearly 4,000 nurses and graduated its last class in 1987. In recent years, Kaleida used the space for training, IT and human resources. The space was vacated in 2005, and 500 jobs moved to the newly developed Larkin Building.
