Fruit Belt...new builds

Despite some very unsuccessful efforts on my part to market a City owned property here at 204 High Street I checked on it again Sunday afternoon. Still available for urban homesteding for $1... Really a must see if you are interested in any sort of City living with a totally cool edge.

Further down the Belt noticed a number of new row house like dwellings going up.

Don't know who is building and what the future deal is with these spots. Counted 6 different sites, all within a few blocks of 204 High Street that are currently under construction. Did notice, see some of the pics, that the exteriors are going to be faced with brick instead of the traditional vinyl we've come to love and expect.

Anyone know some details here with regards to this development project...let me know.

This is indeed painful to watch, having been prosecuted for exposing the non-residency of Rev St John's famous Rev. Bennett W Smith & his much-younger City Treasurer second-wife Marilyn, who had moved to 292 Red Oak Drive in Wmsvlle in 1986. She was finally fired for millions of uncashed checks found under her desk, a second time!

Housing is a zero-sum game in a shrinking city with about 25,000 housing vacancies. Every new unit simnply empties another. And on the East Side those new vacancies are too often in the once thriving black middle class Hamlin Park neighborhood near Canisius College, now being invaded by "foreign" investor-scammers.

Shame on BW Smith's successor, Rev Chatman, who has apparently simply sold his soul to become another HUD-funded poverty-pimping, Jesus-quoting (?) agent for developers.

Does anybody know the status of similar duplexes on the West Side built by James Pitts, of Norstar Development, on devastated West Avenue and environs?

204 is now wide open. Pretty awesome inside and in suprisingly good shape for a building that - according to neighbors - hasn't been occupied since 1979...and used as a Medical office. Lots of medical records scattered about...

i sent one email about 204 in november about one window being broken in/open and less then a week later i received an email about it being resealed. drove by to check things out and they had actually boarded nearly every window up. they offered to sell me the building too! unfortunately i'm not in the position to but it yet(just starting new job in a week after recently graduating). Maybe another reader of yours could email about it seeing as they probably ignore you and me by now.
