Boarding Control - Part III

Next Saturday - January 27th at noon - if you have some time, maybe an hour or so, I could use some help. A few houses that are owned by Bethel Community Development Corporation are still wide open and present significant public health risks here in the neighborhood. Here's the map.

Here the previous posts and video: Boarding Control - Boarding Control-Part II (video)

I'd like to meet-up at my place - 75 Woodlawn Avenue. I've collected dozens of pieces of plywood and other boarding material over the last few years and would very much like to secure the houses that Secretary/Treasurer of Buffalo's Control Board - aka, Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority. - controls through Bethel CDC.

Imagining a couple people measuring the openings, someone else cutting the boards and a few people nailing the boards in place. These places have been open for close to 18 months and there is no Housing Court file compelling Rev. Stenhouse to action.

I'll supply the tools...imagine in less than an hour, we'll be done. Hot chocolate will be provided...

Mark,

Was planning to connect my Artspace Backyard walking tour to my neighborhood...just a few blocks away. Meet up at the Sonic Cafe is still at 11am...and ending up at my place around 12...

On Saturday's tour we also had the opportunity to check in with the good folks at Literacy Volunteers, who will be hosting a rather unique meet-up - finally sometime next month - to introduce a homesteading component into the immediate neighborhood. More about that in a few weeks...

Are you planning on just promoting this here on your blog? Any other venues to get any attention from this torwards the cause? Just curious.

MJ...

I've been investigating possible conflicts of interest for Rev. Stenhouse as control board member. He regularly appears before controlled entities looking for $$$ for various development projects.

If you have and specific knowledge about or could provide some help getting the word out about the condition of these houses that surround the new home of Performing Arts...let me know.

IS THE CITY( MR TOBE) aware of the condition of these unboarded properties? If so is there some reason ..other than the obvious that inspection dept. has not cited these dwellings for Housing court?

Maybe Mayor Bozo is waiting till another dead decomposed body is found in one of these places before he springs into action! Or perhaps he just looks out the window each day and sips coffee as he watches city slip further into decline!
