Short break...back sometime next week...
Sorry about the lack of Performing Arts updates this week...ran out of time.
__________________________________________________________________________- Still thinking about Vergara...
- Moved from planning to getting things done this week in the side yard for this year's vegetable and flower garden. Lumber for the raised beds came from a recent demolition here on the City's near East Side. Thinking about turning part of this project into a community garden. If any fixBuffalo readers have direct experience with projects like this, please let me know.
- And planning for the garden, combined with recent Vermont trip and some energy saving things around the house got me thinking again about The Long Now...check it out when you have some time.
- Always amazed with what pops up in the Buffalo Flickr Group and Church Ruins - Round the World is awesome.

Hi David,
I don't know the ins and outs of community gardens, but when you mentioned that on your blog, I immediately thought of the gardens in my city. My favorite is the one on Ave B and 6th St. It's a great idea to start with a garden - the gardens changed the neighborhoods and brought people together. The one on Ave B has a lot of events, such as readings and community meetings.
Here are a couple links I found:

If you start a garden, make sure your non-profit group owns the land. The city tried to sell off the gardens back in 1999 to developers because all the people who made things happen also made it trendy to live here.
