This is truly nice to see. But I have to ask who is going to live in and rent these spaces? How are they going to make a living in a poverty-stricken city?
No one wants to face the major, crucial issue of Buffalo -- i.e. that it needs that core economic engine that doesn't sell it out as a "company" town to anyone.
It could be accomplished if "city leaders" would work with the very progressive new Governor Spitzer to move Buffalo's large university into Buffalo, get those administrators off their comfy tushes in Amherst, and regenerate the city as a University City.
Buffalo’s only remaining option may be to appeal to the more artistically inclined individuals who, traditionally, do not make a great deal of money.
The Artist’s Loft is a great start and it is a stone throw from the more upscale apartments being offered in Buffalo.
All on a small scale but the trend needs to begin somewhere and it needs to appeal to everyone at all levels.
The status quo of poverty peppered with drugs and violence needs to be derailed before the entire city becomes one big hood….
