Spotted water running down Northampton Street right across from the rear entrance to Artspace.
Water has been running for more than 10 days. On Saturday I pulled the plastic drain pipe out of the hole to see just how deep it was. Almost slipped in and quickly realized that the pipe is 10' long!!! Imagine if this hole was a few blocks over, perhaps somewhere on Elmwood.
Let's see how long it takes...

More than likely its a leak from a bad shut off valve (city water) coming from the main trunk at the steet. THERE WAS PROBABLY A STRUCTURE THERE MANY YEARS AGO THAT WAS SUPPLIED BY CITY WATER, Rather than dig up the connection, the city crew just turned off the water cock and left it. I am surprised that no one has called the mayors' complaint line to alert the water dept. to this problem after many days of constantly flowing water...it doesnt take a genius here to realize that something is amiss.
The City water department knows about the water issue. It is a service leak at 24 Northampton and is not related to Artspace. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
sure they know about...informed them last week. Perhaps that's why the pipe and yellow caution tape are firmly in place.

really? guess the dozens of phone calls I've made to try to get burned out city owned houses demolished is a waste of time, too...

If it's a service leak at 24 Northhampton, it's most likely the line between the house and the main, in which case it's the homeowner's responsibility to repair and maintain - not the Division of Water's.
The Water Division may be waiting a specific time for no response from the homeowner before doing its own repair and billing the owner of the property.

OHHHH.. what the hell, whats 30,000 gals of water or so to the taxpayers, after all we have a state of the art piping system here in Buffalo, or at least our water rates appear to be we are paying for one. But remember, do your part ot conserve water!!
FOOLISM me, I would think that the city would immediately go out and repair the leak, then bill the homeowner, after all , there's no meter at this part of the line!!
