Monastic Buffalo...

While poking around the farthest edges of the City's East side on Sunday, I stumbled upon this place...
Picture 087
This Dominican Monastery is located at 335 Doat Street. Here's the google map and satellite pic showing the extent of the grounds. According to this short history of the Dominicans, The Monastery of the Lady of the Rosary was established in 1905 here on the City's East side. Sisters came from Belgium, back in the day.

I really had no idea. This find provided a perfect balance to the chaos and destruction that I experienced earlier on Walden and Koons Avenue. Can't wait to get inside...

    David,

This is a cloistered order, which my niece belongs too...you may not be able to enter their sanctuary.

    Mark,

Any information on tours? Let me know...

My gram used to live near here, we used to stop to make prayer requests (and receive a prayer card). Wonder if that continues?

There aren't any tours. You'd be allowed in their chapel and little shop/office and that's it.

There is a quality even meaner than outright ugliness or disorder, and this meaner quality is the dishonest mask
of pretended order, achieved by ignoring or suppressing the real order that is struggling to exist and to be served.
