Saturdays Behind Artspace...

Always amazed with the Artspace Backyard neighborhood. Saturday was perfect for photos as we stopped at Literacy Volunteers to warm up from the cold and talk about the neighborhood. Some of the houses and sights you'll see include.

i always enjoy seeing the pictures. not knowing buffalo, i am able to get a better sense of what you are hoping to accomplish.
what are the blocks of linwood like that are closest to your neighborhood? is linwood gentrification well established or spotty? do you sense an increased interest in your neighborhood from gentrifiers and preservationists?

    Steel,

    Thought you'd appreciate the view.

    Bill,

I'll let others respond to this one yet the short answer is yes, Linwood Avenue looks great!

are you already noticing a link-up between the east of main area and the linwood avenue area? your area seems like it is ready to pop
    (in a good way).

    Bill,

There is a dis-connect between Linwood and my neighborhood.

Late last nite, I walked home from the EV. While i certainly had other matters in mind, even the gentle snow fall couldn't mask the feeling that there's a "i am crossing a border" feeling when entering the east side from Ferry Street or Utica.

That said i've always been crossing borders and feel comfortable doing so. Not everyone does. My thinking is that places like Performing Arts HS and Artspace will be the bridges linking both sides of the Main. Main street becoming a place of unity rather than the beginning of division.

Met-up with City side people this afternoon and was introduced to a number of new loan programs designed for urban homesteading...

Don't know anything about HOME related funds.

    Will someone please explain...thanks.

i would love to see a photo thread linking linwood/delaware with main and coe place. it would frame your neighborhood in better context for those of us who don't live in the buffalo area. i realize that your time is valuable, and that the weather may not cooperate. if you might be able to do this sometime, i would certainly appreciate it. i have been learning so much about buffalo from your blog and from other websites within the past few weeks. thanks again for all your efforts.
