the automobile culture happened.
Fascinated by these comparative photos. --Chip
I think its more than just an automobile culture.
I also think there is a disposible culture that came along with the advent of cheap consumer goods. Its cheaper and/or easier to build/buy new for a comparable item that it is to repair or maintain it. This culture also desires quantitiy over quality.
Unfortunately we have applied it to our houses and neighborhoods too.
