Spotted this today. It covers a window at 630 High Street where it meets Genesee. The dates line up with 1931.
Cool building with a terrible recent history. More about the building soon when I'm done photographing it.
I first covered the trials and tribulations of Venere Hutchinson and his wife Dana Upcher here in May 2005 and later in June. A quick check of City records indicates that he still owns the building at 630 High Street. It was purchased from the City in 1999 at the tax sale. His wife Dana still owns 11 Holland Place. It's in rapidly deteriorating condition just around the corner from Artspace [google map] and pic from last May.
Since his sentencing by Judge Nowak, I understand that Venere has failed to stay on the agreed schedule for paying his fines. Bouncing in and out. He's out again, for now.

I saw the price and thought it would be high for 1931 - the depths of the depression. According to a perpetual calendar I found, Saturday also lines up with 1952, which I think is a more likely year for that sign at that price.
