The Buffalo Police looked through the poorly boarded Woodlawn Row Houses last week searching for a rapist. My neighbors are growing increasingly impatient with the lack of responsible ownership the City of Buffalo is exhibiting with the Woodlawn Row Houses. After calling the police on another occasion regarding two men entering this "Local-Landmark" and leaving with "pipes" - the rest of the copper plumbing - and not wanting to confront the men during broad daylight, neighbors are becoming increasingly interested in having the Woodlawn Row Houses demolished. A text book example of "demolition by neglect."

These houses are neither significant nor desirable. They ought to be demolished without delay.
According to what standards do you consider these in-significant. Desirable? Hmmmm... There used to be 21 sets of similar row houses in the immediate neighborhood. Today there are only three sets...
Why not properly secure them and market them in a responsible manner?
I have to agree with DennyK a bit. There are rowhouses in other neighborhoods with far more interesting detail yet are not anything close to being classified as a historic landmark.
And what makes you think any private entity will buy these houses, fix them up and rent or sell them? How on earth would they make a profit doing such a thing in your neighborhood?
Unless you expect public handouts to subsidize this like all those tacky newbuilds going up...

Private entities don't know about these as the City of Buffalo Division of Real Estate does not use proven market strategies to sell City property.
That said they are only worth $1 I'll work with anyone who has 100K in private $$ to renovate. That's about 25K per dwelling. Do the math. Excellent return. Plus...100 feet away the City/State is spending 30 million to renovate school.
There's away to do this with private capital...
Those vinyl victorians, subsidized with your paycheck, are a collosal mistake...
