Can Business and Labor Work Together?

The continuing loss of manufacturing jobs in America seems inevitable. Some states fight the loss with tax incentives. Some communities are inventing a new high road approach to reclaim these jobs.

Dan Swinney heads the Center for Labor and Community Research. A former union organizer, Dan is convinced that business and labor, working together, can not only save but create new manufacturing jobs. His approach may be radical, but it seems to be working, and we'll find out more about it on Smart City.

We'll also talk to Peter Fisher, author of Grading Places: What do the business climate rankings really tell us?, about how to grade the business climate, which ratings are useless and which ones tell the real story.

There is a quality even meaner than outright ugliness or disorder, and this meaner quality is the dishonest mask
