Cultural Assets - Midtown Map

Recently Chuck LaChiusa from the Landmark Society passed along the following map. As you can see there's a large cluster of exisiting cultural assets in this neighborhood that include many places that I've featured in the past. Click on a 'pin-point' and see what's here.
A map of properties targeted by Buffalo's Midtown Renaissance Project. The Project is an effort to jump start housing rehabilitation in a neighborhood on the fringe of downtown Buffalo that has significant public and private investment (ArtSpace, City Honors School, Performing Arts School) and undervalued housing with construction quality no longer available to the middle class.
While the urban 'density' of this neighborhood continues to thin, there are a number of City owned residential properties that have been identified as ideal rehab candidates. Here's the Midtown Renaissance Project overview that the Landmark Society is committing itself to.

A couple more assets that occur to me:

* is the music store at Ferry & Jefferson outside the boundaries? We went in during Cynthia Van Ness' recent Buffalo Tours tour of the Jefferson Ave. area, and I understand it's been operating for decades

* The church at Utica & Verplanck - we talked with a congregation member on the tour, and they seem very cognizant of their historic building (former Elks lodge?) and their role in preserving community heritage

* Parks

* St. Vincent's Orphanage - a historic property, that if redeveloped properly could be a significant cultural asset (could the same go for the Our Lady of Lourdes complex?)

Just outside the boundaries.

Here at the NE corner of Utica/Verplanck is a former Masonic Lodge - I last shot it here
in March 2007.

The only city park in the immediate neighborhood is Masten Park.

St. Vincent's should be included.

Good eye all the way around, thanks.
