Bound for the Landfill...

update 10:38pm....here's a set of interior shots from September 2007
that might give you an idea as to the project's scope.

update May 13th - two additional neighborhood pics!
backyards -- 1566 Jefferson

I noticed 'asbestos' signs were posted recently, one of the final steps in demo preparations, here at 1572 Jefferson Avenue. It's a house that the City has owned since last October and was originally marked for demo last August. I first posted about it - here - in August 2006.

1572 appears solid, has plenty wrong with it yet would make an amazing project. It's located just a few blocks away from the new Merriweather Library and Canisius College. Here's the map.

As long as the building is standing there's time to act. If you're interested in taking a closer look at this property, please let me know. In a week or so I imagine it'll be in some landfill.

How much is it? And does it need a new roof or foundation?

when will this administration get their heads out of their asses?

their is no justification for putting this house at the top of the demo list.

Damn shame. The reason this house is in this condition is not becasue of low demand. It is because of lack of responsibility by its owners

Neighbors home very nice and well cared for. Can see what this could look like if someone cared. Why keep bulldozing down history and replaceing it with new poorly built eyesores. This house is a gem with so many possibilities. The city and mayor a disgrace to let this continue to happen over and over again. Get rid of that clown who runs city into ground.

Had the city gone after owners aggresivly at the start the buildings would not end up in this shape. Than again those owned by the city are worse for the most part so it seems to be a total waste of time to ask those dildoheads for help.

Wow -- the house has its original slate down to the gable on the front porch. What a loss this would be!

What's the opinion of the owner next door in the blue house?

Does he or she want for the vacant delapidated house to be demolished?

If so, then it should be. The owner of the blue house deserves to not live next door to that dangerous eye sore indefinitely waiting for some hero to come along.

I drove by this collection of homes on Jefferson the other day. Actually there is a third home with the same detail. Also, there is a vacant lot between two of the homes - possibly one of the other homes was demoed?? Any other information about this??

These are not the type of houses which should have to be demolished.

11:56, that's nice but talk is cheap. Are you willing to buy it, fix it, and live in it? Nobody else is either so far.

The brick homes at 1566 thru 1572 Jefferson Ave can be seen on the 1894 Buffalo City Atlas at http://www.erie.gov/atlases/buff_94/vol_1/html/city_atlas_1_19.html It looks as though there was an alley to the back of the homes off of Alexander Pl
